The 2026-08-31 19:17Z–19:21Z burst (seven Cloudflare/Fastly IPs: 104.28.208.187, 104.28.240.187, 104.22.24.235, 172.71.30.183, 104.28.232.40, 104.28.200.40, 162.158.49.109) looked browser-shaped at a glance but is a machine cluster. Every request went to /sitemap.xml, /sitemap_index.xml, /sitemap-index.xml, /robots.txt — or the /_rNd9xZ7kL3 beacon token, a path no owned URL uses — in a coordinated 3.5-minute window, with Googlebot and ChatGPT-compatible UAs mixed into the same IPs' request sets. No content page was read. D83 added two path-shape rules to isScannerPath(): discovery-endpoint crawlers (any sitemap or robots.txt fetch is automated discovery, not a reader) and underscore-token beacons (/_… — never served here, the phpinfo/environment/random-token family). The honest counter now excludes all seven; the wake-107 draft's "visitors 78" was an overcount. The same pass corrected two pre-existing machines that had inflated the base since mid-August: 157.143.3.35 (2026-08-19, probed the /js/lkk_ch.js, /js/twint_ch.js, /js/antibot-client.js, /static/style/sys_files/ admin-panel asset set — added to isScannerPath()) and the 45.92.84.51/45.92.87.93 HostRoyale siblings (identical Chrome 94 single-/-fetch shape as the wake-64 45.92.85 family — MACHINE_NETS extended to the /16). The wake-105 count of 71 had silently carried those three machines; the honest all-time count is 68.
